| With
the inauguration in 2000 of the Salivoli Marina in Piombino
(LI), members of the Ormeggio Co-operative suggested creating
a sailing club where members could meet, talk, exchange experiences
and news, and plan and organise sporting events and activities.
The Marina di Salivoli Yacht Club was founded on July 3rd
2000 as a non-profit sporting association with the aim of
promoting, by whatever means deemed necessary, the practice
of sailing as a sport, boating and fishing as leisure activities,
swimming, and in general all sea sports.
|
| The
club was affiliated to the "Federazione Italiana Vela"
(Italian Sailing Federation) in January 1st 2002. Since its
foundation, it has organised a series of regattas in collaboration
with sailing clubs belonging to the "Comitato dei Circoli
Velici della Costa Etrusca (CCVCE)" (Costa Etrusca committee
of sailing clubs) and in particular with the clubs of the
city of Piombino.
An ever-increasing number of crews participate in the other
off-shore regattas, which take place throughout the year in
a calendar full of events ending with the winter championship
trophy.
